It was cold out there. 42 degrees. I caught a cold as soon as I ended the session. My back got chilled I think.
We did this:
- 10 minute warm-up
- 4 X 200, Z3 @: 15 sec rest
- 1 minute rest
- 3 X 1600, Z4 @ :30 sec rest
- 1 minute rest
- 4 X 200, Z3 @: 15 sec rest
- 10 minute cool-down
By the middle of the second 1600, I had basically zero energy. By the middle of the third 1600, I got stitches which slowed down my final 800. I can’t get reliable times on the 200s, but I got 6:30, 6:49, and 7:10 for the 1600s. We had done 1200s two weeks ago, and I got 6:13, 6:38, and 6:58 pace which are in line with the 1600 results. I guess the measure of improvement is that I was still able to get decent numbers tonight with zero energy. The group I usually run with passed me early and never looked back.
My energy was low tonight because I did my first session of swim drills last night. Got to get used to banging out workout sessions day-in and day-out again. I would put this up as an okay workout if I hadn’t ended up with a cold. Maybe it will go away after sleep tonight.
